We began our 2 hour travel across Ireland to Galway. We decided to take a quick stop in Athlone to Seans Bar. It is the oldest pub in Ireland and halfway between Dublin and Galway. It is listed as one of the most “25 of the Most Incredible Bars in the World.” It has detailed and documented history dating back to 900 AD. A true treasure!

Galway
Our next destination was Galway. It is one of the brightest and most intriguing jewels of the West of Ireland. It is a popular tourist city with sandy beaches, colorful shops and restaurants and its bohemian cafe/bar culture. We were able to stop at some amazing wool shops and visited the Claddagh jewelry shop. The cathedral in Galway was absolutely breathtaking. We dined at Mc Donagh’s, famous for its fish and chips. Our trip would not be complete without a walk down to Salthill for the sunset views, and a visit to O’Connor’s Famous Pub.
